چکیده
A s s e s s m e n t o f p r o g n o s t i c f a c t o r s 3 weeks after stopping OAT, laboratory testing was done to determine the levels of D-dimer (measured by an enzyme-linked immunoassay [Asserachrom D-dimer, Boehringer Mannheim, Mannheim, Germany]), antithrombin, protein C, protein S, factor VIII, the lupus anticoagulant, factor V Leiden, and factor II G20210A. Levels of D-dimer were classified as < 250, 250 to 499, 500 to 749, and ≥ 750 ng/mL. Associations between the prognostic factors and times to recurrence were assessed using univariate and multivariate survival analysis.

D-dimer levels and risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism.
CONTEXT Widespread screening of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) for thrombophilic risk factors has become common clinical practice. Because of the increasing number of risk factors, assessing the risk of recurrence in an individual patient is intricate; therefore, a laboratory method that measures multifactorial thrombophilia is required. OBJECTIVE To prospectively study the relati...
متن کاملThe role of D-dimer and residual venous obstruction in recurrence of venous thromboembolism after anticoagulation withdrawal in cancer patients.
We assessed the predictive value of D-dimer (D-d) and residual venous obstruction (RVO), alone or in combination, for recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) over a 2-year follow-up in a cohort of 88 cancer patients after oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT) withdrawal following a first episode of proximal deep vein thrombosis of the lower limbs. RVO, determined by compression ultrasonography on the...
متن کاملDifferent cut-off values of quantitative D-dimer methods to predict the risk of venous thromboembolism recurrence: a post-hoc analysis of the PROLONG study.
BACKGROUND The PROLONG study showed that patients with venous thromboembolism who had qualitatively abnormal results in a D-dimer assay (Clearview Simplify D-dimer) after discontinuation of vitamin K antagonism benefit from resumption of treatment with vitamin K antagonism. The objective of this study was to evaluate the possible advantage of using quantitative D-dimer assays. DESIGN AND METH...
متن کاملIdentifying unprovoked thromboembolism patients at low risk for recurrence who can discontinue anticoagulant therapy.
BACKGROUND Whether to continue oral anticoagulant therapy beyond 6 months after an "unprovoked" venous thromboembolism is controversial. We sought to determine clinical predictors to identify patients who are at low risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism who could safely discontinue oral anticoagulants. METHODS In a multicentre prospective cohort study, 646 participants with a first, unprov...
متن کاملPrediction of recurrent venous thromboembolism by endogenous thrombin potential and D-dimer.
BACKGROUND Increased thrombin generation is associated with an increased risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism. We investigated the relation between endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) and risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism and evaluated whether prediction of recurrence can be improved by a combined analysis of ETP and D-dimer. METHODS We followed 861 patients with first spontaneous ...
